Ride through the serene landscapes south of Madrid, expansive olive fields, and the breathtaking Sierra de Guadarrama, while discovering some of the region’s most significant landmarks: the Aranjuez Palace, the authentic medieval center of Chinchón, the monasteries of El Escorial and Rascafría, the castle of Manzanares el Real, and the walled medieval town of Buitrago de Lozoya, home to a Picasso Museum. Gastronomy

Typical food in Madrid reflects hearty, traditional Spanish cooking with influences from all over the country. The most iconic dish is cocido madrileño, a rich chickpea stew with meats and vegetables served in stages. Other local favorites include callos a la madrileña (tripe stew), bocadillo de calamares (fried squid sandwich), and a wide variety of tapas enjoyed in the city’s lively bars.

Wines

Madrid’s wines come mainly from the Vinos de Madrid Denomination of Origin, which covers several subzones such as Arganda, Navalcarnero, and San Martín de Valdeiglesias. The region produces a range of styles, including robust red wines made from Tempranillo (known locally as Tinto Fino) and Garnacha, as well as crisp whites from Malvar and Albillo grapes. Day by day

Day 1: Madrid – Chinchon (Madrid)

Day 2: Chinchon – Aranjuez

Today’s ride leads you through a landscape of rolling olive groves, sun-drenched vineyards, and gentle pine forests that evoke the charm of southern Spain.

Day 3: Buitrago de Lozoya- Lozoya

Enjoy a comfortable van transfer from Aranjuez to the picturesque medieval town of Buitrago del Lozoya, perched along the banks of the Lozoya River and encircled by remarkably well-preserved Moorish walls.

Day 4: Lozoya - El Escorial

In 2005, responding to the growing demand from cyclists who wanted to reach the Sierra de Guadarrama without relying on cars, the Madrid regional government created a dedicated 40-kilometre bike path linking the mountains to the city.
