With superb biking routes, dramatic scenery and fantastic weather for most of the year, Mallorca is an idyllic island for cycling in a spectacular Mediterranean location. This is the place where pro-riders and amateur enthusiasts come to from all over Europe and the world to train during the winter and spring time, leaving no doubt about it’s irresistible allure.
For a small island, Mallorca offers an incredibly diverse countryside: a 100km mountain range, of pefect proportions, that runs from east to west along the northern coast, low rollling hills on the southern slopes of the mountains, flat plains that bridge the mountains and the sea, and breathtaking coastline with dramatic views of pristine turquoise blue waters. There’s enough of each that you can have a day on the plain, or a day purely in the mountains yet, they are also arranged so close together that you can mix all three in one day if you wish. It is therefore no wonder that Mallorca is referred to as a cyclist’s paradise.
On this deluxe cycling trip of Mallorca we tour the western part of the island from the beautiful bay of Palma, in the south, to the spectacular bay of Pollensa in the north. We cover the best of the interior and the coastline and cycle along quiet and smooth roads with spectacular scenery.
Staying in three of the island’s most luxurious 5-star hotels in stunning locations, this is the ideal trip to experience the best of Mallorca by bike without challenging yourself too much. We can guarantee that you will not fail to be impressed by this idyllic Mediterranean isle.
Day 1: Cap Rocat
Accommodation: Hotel Cap Rocat
After meeting with your Bike Spain guides in Palma de Mallorca, you will transfer directly to your hotel Cap Rocat in the more secluded part of the bay of Palma. Following a quick check-in to the hotel, your guides will prepare the bikes for the bike fitting and your first ride of the week.
Today’s ride is a gentle warm-up along tranquil, rural roads passing by citrus groves and country estates. We make our way towards the historic town of Llucmajor, which contains some of the most significant and well preserved archaeological sites dating back to the Bronze Age.
After a traditional Mallorcan lunch, we wind our way back to the hotel by bike along quiet roads where we will have time to relax and take in the spectacular surroundings of the bay of Palma.
Day 2: Cap Rocat
Accommodation: Hotel Cap Rocat
Today we leave the hotel by bike and follow quiet, secondary roads towards the small villages of Monturi, Pina and Sineu, with its magnificent church, until we reach our final destination at the monastery of Bonany y Petra. This tiny town was the birthplace of Juniperro Serra, the founder of many of the cities in California.
Along the way we will encounter some gentle climbs before the final uphill to the sanctuary where we will enjoy the spectacular views as well as a gourmet picnic in this ideal location.
After lunch you have the option to continue biking or hop in the van for a quick transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3: Pollensa
Accommodation: Hotel San Brull
This morning we will have a quick transfer by van to Mallorca’s most well-known wine region in Benissalem. After a quick visit to one of the island’s most prestigious wineries, we start biking through this pretty landscape of vineyards and through the towns of Lloseta, Moscari and Campanet, before arriving in the magnificent boutique hotel, Son Brull.
In the hotel you can enjoy one of the numerous treatments available in the hotel spa or simply relax in the comfortable surroundings of the hotel.
We will dine tonight in the hotel’s renowned restaurant, Son Brull 365, which offers delicous traditional dishes prepared by our friend Rafa, the head chef.
Day 4: Pollensa
Accommodation: Hotel San Brull
This morning we make our way to the nearby town of Pollensa with it’s 365-step Calvari stairway which you can attempt to cimb before continuing by bike towards the Port of Pollensa. From here the route ascends on a stunning ride along the coast towards Cap Formentor offering incredible views with impressive cliffs dropping into the clear turquoise waters.
After taking time to soak in the views we make our way to the other side of the bay where we will have time to explore the fort of Alcudia before making our way by bike or van back to the hotel.
This evening is free to you to dine in the hotel restaurant and relax in its tranquil surroundings.
Day 5: Palma
Accommodation: Hospes Maricel & Spa
After a quick transfer by van from the hotel this morning we will explore the western coast of the island, which offers some of the most spectacular biking routes, the most famous being Sa Calobra. For those feeling up for the challenge of tackling this 9.4km climb, we absolutely recommend it!
Continuing along this coast we will stop in the charming towns of Soller and Deia before a quick transfer back to the island’s capital where you will enjoy a stay in another of Palma’s most luxurious lodgings with its stunning seafront pool.
Day 6: Departure
It´s time to say goodbye after an exciting trip, whose memories will accompany us on our journey home and hopefully encourage us to return to Spain again in the future!
