One of our last tours of the year was an interesting trip with the Gallivan family from California who decided to come to the South Spain as a tribute to their Grandpa Bill who is still cycling at 80 years of age. It was a pleasure to see a whole family come together to combine their passion for cycling and traveling. They loved the ancient city of Toledo, were amazed by the windmills in the land of Don Quixote and had a great experience in the Mosque of Cordoba, before enjoying a quintessential tapas lunch in the city’s Moorish quarter.
The family helped Big Bill on every section of the ride, giving words of support and even pushing the bikes at the toughest sections! But there was no doubt that William managed pretty well for his age, crossing the dense forest of cork trees in the area of Grazalema in Cadiz.
The traditional Andalucian food and wine was a real highlight for the group, especially in the area of Jerez, birthplace of the famous Sherry. The trip also ended in Jerez with an impressive Flamenco show in a popular local bar.
As guides, it was great to experience this special family trip and to show the Gallivans a part of our country that we love and are always happy to share with others. Thanks for choosing to travel with Bike Spain Tours and all the best to the most experienced member of the family for his next 81st birthday. Good legs Bill!
