On today’s route, you’ll enjoy hilly roads with very few cars, lovely landscapes and indigenous Mediterranean forests, as well as (optionally) your first Mallorcan switchback climb!
Your first stop is the charming traditional town of Felanitx, populated since the Bronze Age and nowadays known for producing wine and capers. It’s worth visiting the imposing church of San Miguel to admire the sweeping staircase entrance.
Just beyond Felanitx, you have an optional climb up to the Sanctuary of San Salvador, a majestic hilltop monastery that dates from the 14th century. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views over southern Mallorca and the Balearic Sea! The monastery also houses a small exhibition dedicated to the world of cycling, including several World Champion jerseys.
From here, you’ll cycle through vineyards and forests, past the Conjunt prehistòric de s’Hospitalet Vell, which dates back over three millennia.
If you would like to extend today’s route once you arrive in Artà (or the start of tomorrow’s route), you can add a beautiful extra climb of about 9km up to the Ermita de Betlem for fabulous views over the Bay of Alcúdia.
Day 3: Artà – Port de Pollença
Route: 42.4 km/26.3 miles
Elevation: +274 m/+899 ft

Today, you’ll explore the authentic Mallorcan inland, and then cycle along the beautiful Bay of Alcúdia, before reaching the ancient walled city of the same name. We highly recommend a stop here to take a stroll around the picturesque old town, and enjoy a fantastic lunch.
From Alcúdia, you’ll enjoy a beautiful ride along the sweeping Bay of Pollença before arriving in the popular seafront town of the same name.
Port de Pollensa is one of Mallorca’s main year-round hubs. The Sky team base their pre-season camps in the area, and the town has evolved into a major base for cyclists wanting to make the most of the diverse array of northern routes.
Day 4: Cap Formentor Loop
Route: 38.5 km/23.9 miles
Elevation: +1280 m/4199 ft
Accommodation: Hoposa Uyal
Meals included: Breakfast
Today, you’ll enjoy one of Mallorca’s classic cycling routes: the beautiful, challenging ride to Cap Formentor lighthouse!
Built by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti, the winding road that runs between Port de Pollensa and Cap Formentor commands astounding views at every turn. The challenging route and typical Mallorcan switchbacks are a cyclist’s dream. Away from the port, you’ll discover a rugged wilderness of great natural beauty. On a clear day, you might even see Menorca, some 40km in the distance.
The road was resurfaced a few years ago, and is now a pleasure to ride. Cars are banned from the road from 1st June – 31st October, so if you’re travelling between these dates you don’t even have to worry about traffic!
Optionally, you can consider doing this ride in the evening, to watch the sun set into the ocean from the lighthouse.
Day 5: Port de Pollença – Port de Sòller
Route: 89.8 km/55.8 miles OR 47.6 km/29.6 miles
Elevation: +2157 m/7076 ft OR +1090 m/3575 ft

The pure climbing starts today! The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sa Calobra and its fabulous switchback road, one of the most beautiful routes on the whole island, prove why Mallorca is a superlative cycling paradise.
Enjoy an adrenaline-fulled 10km of descent down to the crystalline waters of Sa Calobra beach. The road includes more than ten 180º turns, and even a full 360º turn known as the nus de sa corbata (the necktie knot), in which the road passes underneath itself!
From Sa Calobra beach, you can either cycle back up to the top and continue on to Port de Sòller by bike, or take a boat from Sa Calobra to Port Sòller (boat tickets priced separately; please consult us for options).
Day 6: Port de Sòller – Estellencs
Route: 45 km/27.2 miles
Elevation: +1085 m/3610 ft
Accommodation: Maristel Hotel and Spa
Meals included: Breakfast
Today, your self-guided bike tour of Mallorca takes along the Tramuntana coastal road, one of the island’s most popular and most spectacular cycling routes. You’ll pedal your way through the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enjoing breaktaking views of the north coast of the island.
Your first stop is the beautiful town of Deià, long popular among artists and poets for its spectacular location, atmospheric cobblestone streets and bohemian vibes.
Heading further into the Tramuntana, you’ll come to the spectacular mountain village of Valldemossa, which as well as claiming the status of the highest town in Mallorca, boasts a rich cultural heritage. Chief among Valldemossa’s attractions is the Royal Carthusian Monastery, where Chopin and Sand stayed during their time in Mallorca, and which houses a piano belonging to the composer himself.
Finally, you’ll pass by the village of Banyalbufar, whose dramatic stepped agricultural fields are recognised as part of the Tramuntana UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The day’s route finishes in the beautiful town of Estellencs, an authentic Mallorcan paradise lost in time.
Day 7: Estellencs – Palma de Mallorca
Route: 55.7 km OR 74 km/46 miles
Elevation: +1020m OR +1664 m/5460 ft
Accommodation: Nakar Hotel
Meals included: Breakfast
Your final ride of the week is a stunning combination of coastal and inland cycling along the famous Southern Tramuntana Coastal Road. This wide, perfectly surfaced-road sweeps along a ledge built into the mounntainside and has relatively little traffic: a cyclist’s paradise!
The route takes you through the charming little villages of south-west Mallorca. Chief among these is the ancient town of Andratx, which dates back to even before the Romans. It’s well worth making a stop here to stroll the narrow cobblestone streets, and visit some of the 12 watchtowers, originally constructed to defend against attacks by Berber pirates. Andratx is a very traditional place that has retained its authentic charm, and is a great opportunity to get a feel for everyday Mallorcan life.
We highly recommend a diversion to the picturesque coastal village of Saint Elm, a lovely spot with crystal clear water, surrounded by lush countryside.
Enjoy a final evening at leisure in Palma de Mallorca. The capital of the island is located in the bay of the same name and enjoys an excellent climate all year round. Known for its sun and beach tourism, it also has an attractive historic quarter. The city’s beautiful monuments are surrounded by fishing boats, pine forests and palm trees.

The trip, with the routes made by you, exceeded our expectations, the places and roads are spectacular, mixing the coast and the cities, with roads and places with a lot of tradition.
The most spectacular was the Sa Calobra stage through the Serra de Tramuntana, it was spectacular, because we had a huge storm with rain and wind in the sector of Puig Mayor, which we will not forget.
Very remarkable weather, despite the heat, the breeze and the effect of pedaling does not feel or make it unpleasant.
The route is very clear, and that’s the most important credit. Suggest to add more sightseeing tips and restaurants.
The bikes were great! Very easy to paddle and the seats are comfortable.
It was tough to ride in the heat everyday. But in the end of the day, there was always a perfect beach in the end of the day waiting for us to dive in. That was so awesome. Also, Majorcan people are generally very friendly and warm, we received lots of help on the way.
I’d like to thank Bike Spain staffs, Edgar and Sabela, always giving us the help In time. A great memory.
