Eroica Hispania is a cycling event inspired by the ethos of the famous Italian vintage bike ride L’EROICA. It is an event that seeks to recover the values and essence of epic cycling in one of the most important wine-making regions in the world: La Rioja in northern Spain.
With Bike Spain Tours you can be part of this amazing cycling experience on its inaugural race in the spectacular rolling countryside of La Rioja. Participate in the race itself and soak up the magical atmosphere as you bike through the rolling vineyards and medieval hilltop towns of this stunning region.

Day 1: Rioja
Friday, June 5th
On your arrival in Logroño we will transfer you from the bus or train station to the Hotel Murrieta in the centre of town.
The Eroica Hispania activities begin today with the opening of the exhibition area and vintage fair at the Plaza de Toros in Cenicero where you can find some real “jewels” of cycling. There is also a gastronomic fair where you can savor the most typical products of the region as well as sample some of the best Riojan wines.
Before visiting the activities in Cenicero, we will have time this morning for a spin on the bike to get to know the area and check out some of the routes of the race itself. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to visit some of the area’s most well-known wineries.
Transfer back to the hotel in the afternoon.
Day 2: Rioja
Saturday, June 6th
This morning we get on the bikes for a scenic ride along part of the longer Eroica route.
In the afternoon the Mayor of Cenicero will give a welcome speech to all the participants of the race and in the evening there will be a very special welcome from a former great cycling champion. A special pilgirm mass will also be held in the spirit of the Camino de Santiago route, which the Eroica Hispania will bike through.
As well as a display of classic cars and scooters, there will also be a photography contest for the best beard of the Eroica so make sure to have yours trimmed up sharp on the day!
This evening, local percussion group Tarumba will keep us entertained with lively beats and dancing rhythms. It promises to be a delightful day with plenty of excitement in preparation for the big race tomorrow!
Day 3: Rioja
Sunday, June 7th
This morning we transfer by van to Cenicero for the start of the race.
Each of the 3 routes passes through spectacular scenery with sprawling vineyards, fortresses, castles and watchtowers. This is not only an area of great wine cultivation but also one of great artistic and cultural interest where the first writings in Castilian took place and where the Romans left an impressive mark.
After completing the route and soaking up the magical atmosphere of the first ever Eroica Hispania, we transfer back to Logroño where you can enjoy the numerous tapas bars this city has to offer.
Day 4: Departure
Monday, June 8th
This morning after breakfast we say our goodbyes and transfer you back to the bus or train staion in Logroño for your onward journey.
